You are right, of course, about all the subgenres and how there is always something that you can connect with. I cut my teeth on old-fashioned "gothics," but I'm not sure if they could be classified as "horror." (Your thoughts?) And I truly don't want to eliminate anything from my reading list because I'll learn something from everything!
