This is an awesome manifesto of a person who knows how to write, not just spit out formulaic drivel for a daily posting. I loved it. I hate it when I have assignments that tell me to write at the 6th-grade level. I understand the power of headlines, but I rebel against every title having to be a “how-to” and include a word like “Surprising,” or be six words long. (I adore the “clever” kind of teasing title that doesn’t work so well on Medium.) Anyway, thank you for this and the declaration that there’s far more to real writing than just putting it into a format and pushing publish.
