Patrick,

I’m sure I’m not the first to suggest this, but as a lover of American literature, I think you should put a book together of these author-back stories. I first found you here on Medium with your piece on Jack London. You’re a professional journalist with ties to big publications and have an audience and probably have an agent. I would think any publisher would jump at the chance. A book- collection of anecdotes and stories of author’s journeys would be a great companion piece to American Literature courses at the college level, a treasure for history buffs, and source of inspiration for people interested in authors and the writing life. I’d buy several copies — for me and my other wordy-nerdy friends! Enjoyed this very much.
