I have not published Ekphratic writing, but as a former creative writing teacher, I often provided pictures and illustrations as a prompt for students. My writing partner and I practice it. In addition, I've always been fascinated by the connection between art and increased creativity for writers, which I've written about before, but definitely not in the same way you're doing.
