Hi, Sylvia!

Please don't apologize for your response! I'm grateful when anyone takes the time to read something I've written, and I'm doubly grateful when she takes the time to respond.

Maybe I, too, have been bombarded by the gender obsession and focused on trying to promote everyone instead of accepting that groups are different and special.

I must not have stated it well, but my point wasn't that women can't read, but that happily, almost all of us can now, so female literacy is not a cause for comment anymore.

I'm a 65 year old woman, happy in who I am and very glad to be a woman.

As I stated, this was a somewhat strange thought that I had, and I even debated about writing about it. I certainly didn't want anyone to feel frustrated or sad about it! I simply stated to wonder, (maybe because of the cultural emphasis on gender) tif maybe I shouldn't celebrate women readers, but all readers!

Everyone does, indeed, have different perspectives, and I think that one of the best things writers can do is to stimulate thought and discussion, so I guess this piece did that.

Thank you. Hope to hear from you again in the future!
